Summary:
What, you wished to hear the tale of that tragic prince once more, child?

a cautionary tale

Child come close, discard those dreams of grandeur
That threaten to pervade ordinary reason.
Satisfy yourself with common circumstance
Lest Lady Fortune deign your gluttony sinful
And thrust upon you a sea of troubles.
Child, listen! Do not weep for what could be —
Hear not the saccharine promises of the serpent
Nor the articulated arguments of the vengeful ghost…
Instead safely view upon the failings of your peers
With a knowledgable and rational eye,
For even disguise cannot hide you from Chaos’ scrutiny.
Have confidence in this advice, experience knows me well,
Hear now the tale of a prince to whom tragedy befell.

This prince from Innocence was birthed to this world,
A gentle lamb with quailing feet to tread on tainted earth.
Only mother’s love could nurture his growth to adulthood
And in her death, he created himself in her image.
In sweet words and sweet nothings he sought solace from solitude
And in his peers he craved acceptance through playground’s recreation.
With kindly intentions, he sought to martyr himself to them.
His sweet nature reflecting his trembling selflessness,
Was gazed upon lustfully by Chaos’ cruel wrath instead!
So do not search longingly for kinship, my child,
For that Prince’s good will, by harsh fate, was defiled.
Yet even as he sought to do good towards others
And protect with his strength his half-sisters and half-brothers,
By seeking through vengeance to gain his salvation,
Guileless Prince committed an act of hamartia.

Can virtuous intent redeem half-creature of sacrifice,
Created upon stone beds in a temple of science?
Can princely fiend distinguish his purity from monstrosity,
And return as his educated self to civilised society?
If only he had not clung to his visions of nobility,
Accepted his warped self and discarded his humanity…
In his self was united noble steed and goddess of fertility,
But bleached white honour was stained by crimson responsibility.

Why is such disturbance by your visage betrayed?
Tell me your thoughts which your lips wish to convey.

Oh child! What have you done,
Allowed nymph’s temptation to capture your unworldly heart!
Through this act, your fate and tragedy have coalesced.
“Now cracks a noble heart. Good-night sweet prince;
And flights of angels sing thee to thy rest.”
