Hoozuki sat down in the empty conference room, brushing out the creases in his suit. He was the chief executive officer of Jigoku and he always arrived at a meeting early.

“Early, as expected.” A sly voice sniggered at the approximate entry point of the beige room.

“Not late this time, Hakutaku?” Hoozuki replied, not letting the spite spill into his cold, ever-calm voice. Hakutaku, the CEO of Togenkyo Pharmaceuticals, a company under the ownership of Shangri-La, his long hated rival, though their companies held no contempt against the other.

“You think the same trick will work twice?” Hakutaku shoved aside a chair to sit opposite Hoozuki, loosening his tie and reclining in the chair. His closed-eye smile a cut in his face. “Guess who I slept with last night?”

“Obviously someone with low standards.” Hoozuki commented.

“Daji.” He left the name hanging in the air, not letting the slight impact him.

“Is that mean to impress me?” Hoozuki snorted, “How much did she charge you?”

“How did you know?” Hakutaku wavered, “Whatever.” he shook his head. “It doesn’t matter.”

“She works under Jigoku, of course I would know.” Hoozuki informed coolly. “How did you get the money?” He sneered, watching the reaction of the Chinese businessman.

“You know a lot about what goes on in your company.” Hakutaku stated, the smirk wiped from his face. He paused as he looked out the wall sized window that opened up the view to the Japanese skyline, avoiding eye contact. “…And about mine.”

“Not as much as I would like to know, unfortunately.” Hoozuki muttered.

“Fortunately.” Murmured Hakutaku.

The high car whirred onto the side of the road. Hoozuki stepped out of the sleek, black car and watched it drive away, its reflective surface distorting the buildings of the city. The streets of Shanghai were constantly changing, the shopping centres that had been previously there were no longer opened. It felt like there were new streets compared to the last time that he had visited. He walked up the steps to a glass skyscraper. If he had gazed up he would have seen the large letters of Togenkyo Pharmaceuticals on the top of the building.

He walked inside the lobby, the large immensely white entrance hall welcome him but the Japanese man paid it no notice and walked directly to the elevators, he knew exactly where he was going and no one was going to stop him.

The elevator was had only three other people with him, one of which he recognised. “How are you doing Momotaro?”

The large young man turned around, obviously surprised. “Hoozuki! I didn’t expect to see you here. I’m doing well, thank you for recommending me here, Hakutaku has been very kind to me.”

“I’m glad that you’re going well.” Hoozuki nodded his approval. “I’m glad you’ve settled down.”

“Yeah, so am I? Might I ask…?” Momotaro ventured, looking at Hoozuki’s pale face before continuing, “What are you doing here? Hakutaku is having a press conference so he’ll be late if you wanted to see him.”

“No I’m just on some personal business. Hakutaku’s conference is scheduled to end in a couple of hours, correct?”

“That’s correct.” The elevator doors opened in a laboratory, “It’s good seeing you Hoozuki.” Said Momotaro as he exited, leaving only Hoozuki in the elevator, the other two had left earlier. He was alone as the lift ascended to the higher levels of the building, the only light on the button was the second last floor, where the office of Hakutaku was.

Technically Hoozuki wasn’t exactly on business at all. But there were just things that he needed to know, like how Hakutaku had managed to pay to sleep with Daji, someone who the word overcharging was a deep understatement. There were also things that stirred him towards the idea of corruption in Togenkyo Pharmaceuticals but he had to find proof first. There was only one way for that, even if it involved getting his hands dirty…metaphorically.

Hoozuki opened the office door, conveniently unlocked. Huh, he’s incompetent enough to leave the door unlocked, he thought. He walked around to the desk and sat in the chair and turned on the laptop. While he waited for the computer to load he glanced at the security cameras, he had a contact within the company who could deal with the problem of him being seen.

“Hmmm, let’s see.” Hoozuki beheld the blinking line in the password box. “What would he use?”

“He is so predictable.” The young man sighed, watching the screen blink on, the screensaver of a beautiful women with large breasts the first thing to appear.

Hoozuki pursed his lips, entering all the different files on the computer, his thin fingers allowing him to scan through all the documents in a glance. There was nothing on corruption, not yet, perhaps it was further in, there it was-

“What are you doing here?”

Hoozuki froze, it lasted a millisecond before he looked up calmly but he froze nonetheless. “Hello Hakutaku, you’re being early lately?”

“There was an issue and I had to return.” He closed the door behind him, “Now the real question is, what are you doing?”

“Just investigating.” Hoozuki stood up, using the movement to hide the USB that he slotted into the port.

“I thought investigating was usually within legal terms but evidently, it’s just not for you.” Hakutaku approached the calm figure that was standing in his office. They hated each other but this was a step too far.

“You’re not the one to talk about legality.” Hoozuki walked forwards, making Hakutaku take a step backwards. The dripping black ink that was his hair framed his glaring eyes. The Chinese man could feel the pressure on his throat though there wasn’t a hand.

“Oh you were looking for corruption.” Hakutaku chuckled nervously, regarding Hoozuki warily. “Even if you got proof,” He jeered, “It wouldn’t have an effect.”

“There are some other uses for evidence of corruption.” Said Hoozuki quickly, backing Hakutaku against a filing cabinet.

“Oh I see, that’s what you wanted the information for.” Hakutaku narrowed his eyes and gave a cruel smile, “It seemed too suspicious if you wanted to do good with that evidence.” He nudged his head at the USB. His tousled black hair falling in sharp edges over his face. “Nothing wrong with a good bit of blackmail?” He laughed.

“I could destroy you, your company, if I wanted to.” Hoozuki mentioned, it was said too simply to seem like a threat, it was only a matter of fact.

“You wouldn’t.” Hakutaku brought their faces closer. It wasn’t a question.

Now Hoozuki was really choking him and glare that he held them in was stifling, “I would do more than that.” That was a threat.

Hakutaku remained silent, enraptured by fear.

Hoozuki took a step backwards and took the USB out and put it in his pocket, leaving Hakutaku fixed on the spot, shocked. “If you were waiting for the opportune moment,” he heaved a breath and looked to the side, “that was it.”

“To do what?”

“Everything.” Hakutaku whispered.

Hoozuki nodded his head and walked out.

Hakutaku scowled and sat at his desk to see what Hoozuki had looked through.

Hoozuki walked through the hallways of his company, walking past the giant goldfish tank that lined a wall. He saw the thin figure of Hakutaku talking to Jigoku’s owner, Enma, a large man who dwarfed the shorter Chinese man, Enma dwarfed everybody.

Hakutaku halted and turned around, finding Hoozuki.

Hoozuki stopped tapping on his IPad for a moment, piercing the other businessman with his scrutiny.
Hakutaku only raised one finger to his lips and smirked behind it. A silent “shh” in his eyes.
Hoozuki flipped him off.
